Understanding High Flow Filtration

High flow filter cartridges are designed for applications requiring maximum flow rates with minimal pressure drop. Unlike standard cartridges, these systems can handle 10-20 times the flow rate while maintaining the same footprint.

Perfect for pre-filtration in reverse osmosis systems, cooling tower water treatment, and industrial process water applications where high flow rates are critical.

Key Benefits

  • Reduced filter change frequency

Frequently Asked Questions

A high flow filter cartridge is a large-diameter (6″/152 mm) pleated liquid filter that handles up to 110 m³/hr (500 GPM) per element. The pleated design delivers 2.6–10 m² of filtration area per cartridge — replacing 90% fewer elements than standard 2.7″ filters and reducing housing footprint by 50%.

Pullner high flow filter cartridges are available from 1 µm to 100 µm: 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, 70, and 100 µm. Both absolute and nominal ratings are offered. Non-standard ratings are available on request — common for seawater desalination RO pre-filtration (5 µm) and power plant condensate (1–5 µm).

Pullner high flow filter cartridges are drop-in replacements for PALL Ultipleat and Marksman, 3M CUNO 740B and 7000 Series, Parker MegaFlow, Pentair Aqualine, and Graver high flow filters. Same outer diameter, O-ring configuration, and length — no housing changes required.

Three factors determine the right selection: (1) Media — PP for water and general liquids up to 82°C, PET for up to 150°C, Glass Fiber for petrochemical up to 250°C; (2) Micron rating — 1–5 µm for RO pre-filtration, 10–40 µm for general industrial; (3) Length — 20″, 40″, or 60″ based on your housing and required flow rate.

Four media options are available: Polypropylene (PP) for general liquid filtration up to 82°C; Polyester (PET) for high-temperature use up to 150°C; Glass Fiber (GF) for petrochemical and paint & coating applications up to 250°C; and Activated Carbon for adsorption. Custom media combinations are available on request.

Standard lengths are 20″ (508 mm), 40″ (1016 mm), and 60″ (1524 mm). Outer diameter options are 6″ (152 mm), 6.2″ (157 mm), 6.5″ (160 mm), and 6.75″ (171 mm). Filtration area per cartridge: 2.6 m² (20″), 6.6 m² (40″), 10 m² (60″). Custom lengths are available.

Operating temperature depends on media: PP handles up to 82°C, Polyester (PET) up to 150°C, and Glass Fiber (GF) up to 250°C. Maximum differential pressure is 3.44 bar at 21°C. Recommended change-out differential pressure is 2.1 bar at 20°C. Stainless steel core and cage are available for high-pressure applications.

High flow filter cartridges are used in seawater desalination RO pre-filtration, power plant condensate filtration, petrochemical and paint & coating processes, food & beverage (bottled water, juice, edible oil), biopharma process water and solvents, and automotive/microelectronics applications. PP media handles water-based applications; Glass Fiber handles high-temperature chemical streams.

Standard delivery: 100 pcs in 3 working days; 500 pcs in 5 working days; 1,000 pcs in 7 working days; 2,000 pcs in 12 working days. Custom configurations or non-standard sizes may require additional lead time. Contact Pullner directly for bulk order scheduling.
