We ordered electronics grade filters for a small run and the parts we received matched the specifications well. Communication on their end was straightforward, and delivery timing was reasonable. Overall, the process was smooth enough for our needs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Water filtration in F&B manufacturing removes particles, sediment, bacteria, and chemical contaminants from process water used in production. It covers everything from raw water intake and ingredient water purification to final rinse water and CIP (clean-in-place) systems. In bottled water, it’s the core process. In soft drinks, beer, wine, and dairy, it protects taste, extends shelf life, and ensures the finished product meets food safety standards.
It depends on the production stage. Most F&B plants use a combination of three systems: high flow filter cartridges for pre-filtration of large volumes like beer, wine, juice, and bottled water — their large diameter (152–160mm) means fewer cartridges and smaller housings, which saves space and cost on high-throughput lines. Pleated water filter cartridges for security filtration and RO pre-treatment, with ratings from 0.1 to 70 microns. And membrane filter cartridges for final sterile filtration and bacteria removal before filling — critical for shelf-stable beverages and dairy products. The right setup is usually a multi-stage system, coarse pre-filtration first, then progressively finer filters toward the filling line.
The main types are depth filtration, which traps particles throughout the filter media and is used for pre-filtration of beer, wine, and juice where dirt loads are high. Surface filtration, which captures particles on the outer layer of pleated media for process water and ingredient water. Membrane filtration, which provides absolute-rated retention down to 0.02µm for sterile filtration before bottling and bacteria removal. And activated carbon filtration, which removes chlorine, off-tastes, and odors from water used in beverage production. Most food plants run two or three of these in series to meet both quality and food safety requirements.
Beverage filtration is the process of removing unwanted particles, microorganisms, and impurities from liquids during drink manufacturing. It’s used at multiple points in production — clarifying raw ingredients, polishing the product before carbonation, removing yeast and bacteria, and performing a final sterile filtration before bottling or canning. Each beverage type has different filtration needs. Beer requires yeast and haze removal. Wine needs clarification without stripping flavor. Soft drinks need particle-free water to protect carbonation nozzles. Bottled water must meet strict purity standards with multi-stage filtration from source to bottle.
Food-grade filtration systems are built with materials that comply with FDA and food contact regulations — meaning the filter media, adhesives, cages, and end caps won’t leach chemicals or affect taste. Standard industrial filters don’t need to meet these requirements. Food-grade filters use FDA-compliant polypropylene, PES, or Nylon. Membrane cartridges can be steam-sterilized and integrity-tested before use. They’re tested for low extractables to avoid contaminating flavor or product safety. And manufacturers like Pullner provide batch-level documentation and test reports for food safety audits. If your production line fills consumer-ready food or beverages, standard industrial filters won’t pass a quality audit.
