Pleated filter cartridges use folded media to maximize surface area within a compact housing. Greater surface area improves dirt-holding capacity while supporting efficient flow at micron ratings commonly between 1 and 20 microns.
Depending on media type, pleated cartridges can be nominal or absolute rated, offering predictable filtration performance. This balance of efficiency and longevity makes pleated filtration a widely used industrial standard.

A pleated filter cartridge is made by folding (pleating) the filter membrane to increase surface area and dirt-holding capacity. Compared to wound or melt-blown filters, pleated cartridges offer higher filtration efficiency, lower pressure drop, and longer service life for industrial water and process filtration.
Pullner supplies multiple types of pleated filter cartridges based on media and application:

Popular choices include 5 micron and 20 micron ratings for general sediment and process filtration.
Pleated filter cartridges provide:
A pleated filter cartridge consists of:
Pleated cartridges are commonly installed upstream of RO membranes to protect downstream equipment and extend membrane life.
In most housings, the pleated cartridge is installed so flow runs from outside → inside. As fluid passes through the pleated media, particles are trapped on and within the filter surface. Clean fluid exits downstream through the core.
Replace the cartridge when differential pressure rises to your system’s replacement threshold (typically 2.1 bar for our cartridges) or when cleaning no longer restores acceptable performance.
Pleated cartridges use folded membrane material to create a large surface area in a compact size, offering higher flow rates, better dirt-holding capacity, and longer service life.
String wound cartridges are made by winding yarn around a core. They typically have lower dirt-holding capacity and shorter life but can be more economical for applications with low particle loads.
For industrial liquid filtration with moderate-to-high dirt loads, pleated cartridges are generally the better choice.
Pleated filter cartridges are used across multiple industries:
